Hi.

I have a RAV4 4.3 2009 with original radio Matsu****a, mod. 86120-42280.

Now I would like to replace it with an aftermarket with integrated GPS.

I need to know the pins map of the back sockets on the 86120-42280 (see attachment).

Can anyone help me? thanks

Hi Mau - and welcome to TOC. We are not ALL mad here but then again, there are very few who would claim to be completely sane

I've just been through the same exercise on a 2008 xt5 and found all the "conversion" cables that I needed at Connects2 ( www.connects2.co.uk ). I fitted a Sony XNV-770BT which I like much better than the original Toyota unit. Also considered units from Kenwood and others. I came across one problem that might influence your choice headunit: The Toyota ICE wiring system is a propriety bus system rather than the more standard can-bus. ( apologies to SHCM if I have this wrong - I'm at the edge of my comfort zone here! ) This meant that the steering wheel buttons for the audio control worked fine but I can find no way of making the bluetooth phone work with the steering wheel buttons. It works fine from the touchscreen, but the steering wheel controls have proved an intractable problem. I did find out that if you fit a non-bluetooth headunit and a separate "Parrot" bluetooth interface for the phone, they can be made to work. Installation was dead easy.

Don't ya just love the censoring of the manufacturer's name, Matsu****a in Maurizio's posting....made me laugh, but then again....in France, it would be "Matsumerda", in Scotland, "Matsukeecha", and censor system would know no different...sorry off topic a wee bit.

Big Kev

I believe there are some steering wheel switch packs that sit on Toyota's AVCLAN, but on the RAV, it is just a simple resistor chain.

CAN goes a fair bit faster than Toyota's AVCLAN. There are some similarities, but a lot of differences. The receive voltage thresholds are different for a start, as is the frame format.
