Previa Ecu Problem?

I have a 1995 Toyota Previa Auto 2.4l GL, it has had a intermittent engine light showing and the engine has repeatedly stalled and taken a good few cranks to start. Eventually the car stalled and even the AA couldn't get it going again. I have had a mechanic out and had the distributor cap replaced, the coil too and the plugs. The injectors are fine and the compression is ok but a little low on piston 2. There is a weak spark but not enough to start the engine. He thinks it may be a ECU problem? Has anyone any ideas

First get it checked with a scan tool to see what the error code could be.
