Problem Solved- You All Helped But Don't Know It Yet!

Hi guys & gals,

Just wanted to say thank you to the forum as a whole really :toast: - thanks to you lot I managed to diagnose SCV failure, source replacements and fit them thus avoiding potentially huge garage costs, given those in my area may not have been able to fix the problem efficiently!

My story: my wife's diesel Rav started having running problems over a year ago now- the classic (as it turns out) intermittent SCV failure symptoms of limp-mode accompanied by warning light, but only occasional logging of the fuel-pump related fault code by the time it could be taken to a garage. Thanks to this forum I sussed out the problem, and was ready to sort it out however the symptoms mysteriously disappeared for about a year. Then 2 weeks ago KABLAMMO! Almost left her high and dry with our 1 year-old in dire need of milk and beddybyes; the car eventually got them home, but refused to start thereafter.

Dug out all my links again, replacements delivered almost before I'd ordered them (thanks Kingo & Co!) and spot on instructions on here. Small amount of swearing at the loom connector on the green SCV- couldn't get the little sod unlatched easily at all.

Put it all back together, and it seems the old SCVs had been causing more of a problem than had been obvious- Ralph, as my wife named "him" :!Removed!: , starts and runs much more smoothly than before so she's over the moon!

So- thanks to everyone on here for helping out!

And just for the record I intend to become a paid-up member- resources such as forums like this really are little gold mines that need support from everyone who benefits from them

Cheers all,

Mark

Its nice for someone to reply and give thanks for any help/advice they have received on any of these forums.

Mostly nothing is heared back from owners asking for help.so we dont now how they got on.

some times the fault symtoms described can be of help to others.

but not to tell us if any advice,or how they got around a problem is just being ungrateful and selfish.

Well done MAWglobal.

Had my SCV's Done back in may this year, rav seems to run better than ever now...even with 103'000 on the clock.

But i have now switched to Essso diesel from tesco, seems to have done it some good as well, smoother acceleration..no odd kicks from engine anymore.

Anyway glad your rav4 is sorted my friend, may you have many more happy years with it

This is a superb forum, with many very helpful members.....long may it last :yahoo:
