Recently purchased a 2002 4.2 2.0 vvti Rav4 , was wondering if it has a rear LSD ?

Also do you think I should change the Gbox, transfer box and Rear diff oils?

Any oil make preferred , fully synth ect ect.

Any info welcome.

cheers

james

GX doesn't have an LSD. Look at pinned tech info for 4.2 transmission oil change.

So which models DO have an LSD then ?

The Toyota sales brochure says mine has, but I am not convinced and Mr T could not confirm it either way when I asked.

Give your VIN number to a Toy otter dealer and they'll tell you if it was an option fitted to your car? Maybe..

I can only comment for 2002 models. The NRG and VX do , NV and GX don't.

I would, on all my cars i do a full service myself by changing all oils, so that's the gearbox, transfer box, both difs and engine oil. I also change the spark plugs and engine coolant, air filter and pollen filter, also rotate the tyres, checking all pads/discs and finally going round with my trusty grease gun and a splash of wd40. Worth the time imo

the RAV has had a full engine service, oil, plugs , air filter.

new front discs and pads as well, rears are ok.

think I'll get the transmission oils as well then just to be on the safe side .
