Home Service On 4.3 D4D

Hi to all

I bought my 4.3 T4 d4d last December from a Mr T main agents, in fact the previous owner was the wife of the area manager. Part of the deal was that it was to have a full sevice prior to collection and indeed the service book was stamped up to say it was serviced the day before collection with mileage at 25K.

After 3 weeks I got a low oil warning and suspected that I had bought a car with one of those engines that burnt oil for fun.

Filled up the oil 10K miles ago and only had to put a splash in since then.

This brings to question if the service was actually done by Mr T.

With this doubt in mind I have decided to do my own servicing and would like to know if the Haynes manual that is for the 4.2 model is ok to use for the 4.3 as Haynes did not produce a manual for this model.

Also are there any Toyota spec sheets detailing what needs doing (and how to do them)for both the Interim and Full services.

Many thanks for your replies

For what you need to do on a service just select the year and mileage on http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/guides.php

Also i would never trust a garage to do a full service, i know many people who work for big garage such as VW and Toyota and a full service might mean something different to you as what it does to them, the service sheet is more a 'yea we had a look sorta' sheet and 'genuine' parts often mean cheap copies.

You are better doing it yourself, at least you know its done right, and everything has been checked

Dav, the spec sheets are in the pinned section at top of page

Not sure about using Haynes 4.2 manual but you can download maintenance information from the Toyota tech site for a few pounds for an hour - collect what you need and save for reference.
