I have a 4A-GZE in my 1998 AE111 Corolla. It's pushing out 198bhp but that's with a bigger crankshaft pulley, ERL water injection but the big improvement came by dumping the standard ECU and fitting a standalone Motec M4 ECU. This is not a cheap option but it does use the standard Toyota sensors and overcame a couple of problems that this version of the engine has when you try to get more hoprsepower out of it. I've documented everything to do with the car on my website - take a look at www.ae111sr.co.uk

Single or twin exit exaust, which is best for my engine?

Toyota originally fitted a single exit exhaust to the ae101 but changed it to a twin exit for the later models.
