Tbh.. Most of my stuff is Snap-on because you just cant beat the quality and the lifetime warranty. I've got some Halfords pro range because some of the stuff (So I've been told) is made for them by Snap-on. The pro torque wrenchs are.

Nice one mate.

If you're after some cheap Snap-on gear then eBay is where to go. I bought 2 Tech angle (half inch and 3/8") torque wrenches for £185 and £160 brand new. They are usually well over £300 each from the Snap-on van man.

Still got loads of whitworth spanners from when i was an apprentice, the chrome has worn off parts of them and the copper coating is showing through.shows the use they have had.

Thanks for the eBay tip, hadn't really thought of that one.

Also how long ago did you first start using Whitworth spanners ?

You can get some great bargins off eBay mate. Just bought a Blue-Point (Snap-on) cambelt locking kit for doing the belt. And a genuine VW new starter motor for my Polo for £36.

HI Paul, started using them about 1950/51.used the fitters ones i trained with before buying my own.my first set of tools that was spanners (open jaw & ring)sockets,t bars ratchets, screw drivers,copper/hide hammers, metal crapers etc

cost me about £14 .00 which was a lot of money in those days almost twice what a skilled fitter was taking home a week.

But then i had to supply my own which was the norm in those days.ive still got most of them some place.

all are stamped with my intiels.the hide/copper hammer,is a bit like Trigggers broom, had many new copper and hide replaced.

where has the time gone.
