I am thinking of getting myself a motorbike - (I'm bored of 4 wheels now)Got my full licence 18 months ago...

now i'm ideally after a 600cc something reliable - easy to ride - good handling and something that's gonna put a :D on my face everytime i see it.....

max £4500

was thinking along the lines of a Yamaha R6/CBR 600 etc... etc..

It depends how experienced you are? and what your planning on using it for.

The CBR is a good all-rounder, the R6 is deffo more a sports bike, and could be uncofortable for long journeys.

Also, consider the Suzuki GSX, you can have either the R600 (sports bike) or 600F (more of a crusier)

CBR600RR is defo a full on sports bike, as is the gsxr600 and R6.

All very good bikes, love em all to be fair!

You'll struggle to get a CBR F (model before the RR was launched) unless you get one 2nd hand - but you cannot compare the two bikes - they're so different.

I personally like the looks of the R6 more than owt, but the gixxer6 is easily the fastest (although they'll all do 160+, the gixxer will 'feel' quicker).

PM me if you want any more info etc,

Cheers

Adam

I say try the CBR600 too.

The F is nice and comfortable, don't know about the RR though.

As a girl I prefered the weight and position of the R6, although it was sadly out of my budget when I was bike shopping.

You really don't want a looney bike as your first one.

Happy hunting.

I would agree with whats been said, R6 would be the one for me but none are gonna be very forgiving if you're a newcomer. But its like anything, it'll only go as fast as you make it go

I've been without a bike for nearly six months now, I'm starting to get the twitch now the weathers turning

I would say spend as much money as you can on your riding gear as well even if it means spending less on your bike, it makes the difference if you come off. Believe me I know from past experience

Totally agree with nic and daz.

2 other bikes i've just thought of; BMW F650 - brilliant bike, especially when your getting into the swing of it. Also, suzuki Sv650s.

How much do you weigh and how tall are you???

(no - im not tryin it on!) If your like me, 6ft 12stn, then I find full on sports bikes are SOOOOOO uncomfortable!!! As a rule, the shorter you are, the more comfortable things get!

What about the 600 Fazer?

If it is your first proper bike, go for something like the CBR, more forgiving than an R6, although looks the mutts it is a bit head-down-*****-up.

I would personally concentrate on learning the skills to stay alive out there first then think of what you might like next year, remember if you survive the first season without a splat you are lucky, even parking spills can be expensive on faired bikes, I dropped my Triumph whilst washing it, and it cost me nearly 70 quid for a mirror

6ft and with regards to weight approx 15st (and going down if i stay on the Atkins!!!)

so - what are we saying - so far CBR600.....??

The new one will not suit you at all! The older CBR F model will do tho. Give one a test ride. If you think thats bad on your arms, dont even think about any other 'sports' model!!!

Good luck mate,

Titto

I was alway's a fan of the CBR600FY :P nice allrounder that had the ability to push it if needs be. Tho if it's your first bike since passing your test have you thought about a s600 Bandit, or (if u can get them that cheap) a second hand Ducati Monster 600? you won't need a full fairing crotch rocket straight away and both the bikes i've mentioned will still give u the get up and go u require.
