Hey there this my first post on here as im looking for some help with my motor. I bought the car in march for only 500 quid its a 1990 import I think. it only has 80k on the clock and I've had no problems with it over the summer. now the weather is starting to get bad im having trouble staring it (mostly when its been raining) it had new plugs couple of months ago before this problem developed. I've recently had a stainless exhaust and air filter fitted could this be anything to do with it? A few people have told me most likely will be distributor cap. got another one off a 94 UK spec car but the connections on the HT leads are different could I swap all leads over any help would be much appreciated thanks :)

Have you sprayed the alternator with silicone or WD40 . The drivers side port in the engine bay cover drips water onto the alternator, mine just burned because of this problem, I have fabricated a cover for this with a drain for the water leading away from it.
