Almost correct its an Avo 8 MK2 , a real instrument, none of todays Chinese made LCD rubbish.

Built during the cold war :argue: to survive the EMP from a nuclear strike.

That would be great if you could test yours so i can get some idea of what to expect. Maybe they are cheap ones giving the same problem as the BMW's. Fingers crossed!

Going to see if my friendly local garage can check the emissions and see if there is a CAT problem. Still waiting for the dealer i bought it from to get back to me :/

hey, suggest you to find your local garage, it's better for your car

Yeah ive been using the same local garage for years. All our family use them and they look after us well. Dropped the Rav of with them this morning and they checked the cat and its fine. They noticed that the fans are running all the time so going to look into that for me.

OK so it turns out that the problem is being caused by there being no earth on the 2 pre cat sensors. Must be a common ground somewhere thats got damaged or corroded. They did a temporary fix and it put the light out and cleared the codes, so i'll do a proper job on it at the weekend.

Glad its not been anything too nasty!

Hi

I have a RAV4 2 LITRE 2001 Make Petrol,AUTO about 60000 miles in U.K.

Recently I had an engine falut alarm. The freindly neighbourhood garage has advised me that the Ctatlytic covereter has to be replaced with an estimated cost of £850!!

Then suddenly the fault disappered and everything looks normal.

Is it normal to change ctatlytic conveters for this type of vehicles?

Regards

LV Raman

Hi LV & welcome,

Sorry to say our 2002 RAV had to have a new cat in Dec, 2010 @ 58K miles. Total cost was £625 fitted; don't know where you are located but I'd get a couple more quotes first!
