Instrument Illumination?

Hi all, Sorry if this is a stupid question but does the instrument panel dimmer knob itself light up when all others are lit? I've only had the XT4 for about a month and a half so still learning bits and pieces!

TIA, Steve

What about the window lift switches on the door panel?

Mine don,t and its a right pain at night.

Could be an led mod for someone?

The window switches don't light for me either, couldn't see it being too difficult running a small LED to them if it really was a problem for you. But to be honest its probably more hassle than its worth, after all you don't really need to see them switches, just let your finger do the seeing.. (cheesy line i know)

There is no bulb, its just a switch, i just had a quick look and to actually get a light in there would require quite a it of messing about. Not so much the wires but where to actually have the bulb, i suppose you could mount it under the switch for a sort of 'underglow' look, or to be more adventurous you would have to actually drill into the button

There`s a lot of things that are not lit up on the ravs interior, its like sitting in a black hole at night, especially when you have black interior.

Just a quicky, theres a lad called Dave (Tarquin) on the iQ forum who is red hot on interior illumination. The stuff he,s done with led,s to the various switches (non-illuminated) is unbelievable. Just read some of his posts and topics on that forum.

Regards Clare

Hi Steve,

On my 2003 D4D, no it doesn't. The knob is solid plastic, and simply has a multi-position switch behind it, without illumination.

And for that extra "black-hole" effect - or just to reduce dash-panel distraction at night . . . I didn't know until a while back that you can extinguish RADIO ILLUMINATION by simply pressing and holding down the top RH corner knob (Audio Control). Press and hold again to re-illuminate. Radio etc continues to operate normally in either mode.

Mine don't light up either, so that's dimmer, window switches and electric mirror controls than don't light up?......was there a shortage of bulbs in the 4.2 era?
