....... This post??

I have just found out where it fits as both are loose on the new Rav.

Are they just glued on or clipped on as they don't seem to make much of a seal on the glass??

Clean them and the mating surface on the glass with some white spirit, then EvoStik 'em in place. It would appear that they utilise the aerodynamics to direct rainwater back up the sides of the screen and into the water channels that run along the sides of the roof; otherwise it will blow back in the slipstream and result in water stains and general muck on the A-pillars & front door windows. By redirecting the airflow, they also reduce wind noise that would otherwise be generated by the door mirrors.

IMHO, superglue has very limited uses & this wouldn't be one of them. EvoStik or Araldite would be best given the extremes of temperature & the fact that they will be immersed in water a lot of the time.

What about clear glazing silicone? Just mask off the surrounding glass.

Could be, Dave. I know beggar all about clear glazing anything, let alone silicone. I do tend to keep a tube of EvoStik handy & it works on just about anything and it fixed my little bits at the bottom of the windscreen just fine, no masking, no messing about. Just a quick clean first with some white spirit.

Sorry, Dave. On second reading, my response above was !Removed! arrogant. I was trying to say that EvoStik is handy for DIY prols like me but I'm sure that there are better solutions such as you were recommending.

Memo to self: "select brain before engaging (big) mouth".

Apologies, Amigo.

Jim, absolutely no offence taken - I was simply agreeing with you. I too always keep a tube and, indeed, used some today.

Surprising how many folk fail to understand how to use it properly. The youngsters I work with can't get their heads around the fact that you leave it to dry before assembly of parts

Strangely enough, the only glue I had when wife's came off was yon "No More Nails"....has worked perfectly well for months, albeit it was done on one of this decade's dry, warm days....

Big Kev

Well i had a closer look at where those bits go with a torch and there is quite a bit of dirt in the corner.

Should those pieces keep the water out of that corner,i presume they should, but as i said there doesn't seem to be any sign of them been sealed??

I do have Evostick, just found it,and some clear silicone,i might go with the silicone if it has to have a water tight seal?

Well those pieces are both glued back on

I cleaned both surfaces with white spirit, applied the Evostick, let it go touch dry then joined both ends and hey presto,it didn't stick

So i cleaned that off, lightly rubbed the ends with some fine abrasive for better adhesion, and tried again, but the same thing happened

I think the Evo i have is too old and might have gone off.

So pulled that off as it came off easy then used Superglue and it stuck straight away, and seems to be a good hold, but time will tell no doubt.

We could do a TOC consumer test: your superglued repair -vs - Big Kev's No More Nails (by yon, apparently) solution.

Have you tried tiger seal? Expensive but sticks like !Removed!...used it on my rav to stick similar plastic trim around windscreen.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002SQY852

Yeh, this stuff is great.

I used it to glue an SRi boot-lip spoiler to a Vauxhall Cavalier a few years ago. Otherwise I would have had to drill 6 holes. It glued it rock solid.

I'm sure it is good stuff, but doesn't Poly have a short shelf life.??

For what was needed for the two little pieces i glued back on it might have been too expensive and the rest would have been thrown away if it does go off??
