Previa Keeps Overheating

My Previa recently overheated. It was a very cold morning with freezing temperatures. It did not get hot until I drove about four miles then it went straight to the red line then something popped and shot out from under the van. I continued to drive to get to a safe place to stop but it sounded horrible like engine was dying. I stopped several times to let it cool in order to make it home. A hose had blown off from the bottom and all my coolant had came out. But after replacing the hose and refilling the coolant it still is overheating. The thermostat seems to be sticking but even after it opens and I am getting heat inside the van the engine still overheats. The engine sounds good when it's cool but the idle seems too low now.

This is a 1991 Previa LE and it has 355,340 miles on it. With this mileage I don't want to put a lot of money into it if it's a lost cause but I don't want to give up on it yet either before I have heard all of my options.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
