i have a 2004 avensis with a cracking / creaking noise coming from passenger side, some were between dashboad and A pillar it is driving me crazy. so far i have taking glove box out and tied up everything i could find any way loose, then i took of strip above glove box and filled with sponge to hold it tight even had centre info display out and put sponge all around edges no joy. i also packed sponge between dash and windscreen the only thing that made a small bit of difference was putting sponge between A pillar and windscreen but not great. i have check every post on this site and many others. if any one has had this problem and solved it please let me know.

thanks

Try pulling the A pillar panel out and then try to re-produce the noise. The panel has little plastic clips that may cause the noise.

Another option is that the noise is coming from outside and gets amplified by the windshield. Such is the cowl panel that

has a rubber strip that is rubbing against the windshield. This noise never happens in wet conditions so it easy to rule out.

In the 2001 model these two almost drove me crazy.
