Can I also ask how you deglazed the headlights?

Mine are in need of restoring to clarity (ones a tad yellowish - looks terrible).

Only just seen the replies to this post. I didnt think anyone would take notice seeing as the mods are pretty minor

How did you de-glaze headlights?

Hi mate, look further down this post, I will put up details of this

Looks really good, well done

Thanks mate - its small time compared to some other cars Ive seen here and on another forum lol but Im satisfied with the mods so far. Only 2/3 more updates and I think Im done with modding it :D

Hi, I had a really bad time trying to find out how to get rid of this glasing. So I tried the following:

The following are details of how to remove this stuff with a product that I used which worked for my own headlights. This stuff in my opinion definitely works.

This is the kit I used:

20110107113617-QuixxFront%20%20Headlightrestoration%20USA.jpg

Now, the product does definitely work, but the same could have been achieved with:

2000, 3000 and 5000 grade sand paper

plastic polish

masking tape

few clean cloths

However buying this was good because everything came in a convenient box for you to go straight at it except for the masking tape.

There are 3 grades of sandpaper in the box (2000, 3000 & 5000)and the process is as follows:

-mask off the surrounding area of light

(Next steps are only to be done for heavy glazing/scratches. If the glazing is not that bad, the wet sanding stages can be skipped)

-wet sand vertically using 2000 paper

-clean the residue off

-wet sand horizontally using 3000 paper

-clean the residue off

-wet sand vertically using 5000 paper

-clean the residue off

-Use plastic polish

-buff off the polish after some time

-use the "sealant" which is supposed to protect the lights (and repeat sealant treatment every 3 to 4 months)

Furthermore, the glazing on my lights were so bad that I found it was not possible to remove every bit of it, but its a definite improvement from before anyhow. Here are some before/after pictures:

Passenger side before

Definitely a product worth trying.

Also, another product recommended by another member (not sure of his user name on here if he is registered here) is Plexus polish which apparently works just as well if not better...

These are his comments on this product:

"Apparently this plexus stuff was used to sort the canopies on f16 falcons, so I guess it's supposed to be good. It gradually fills in the little imperfections, and the more you do it the better the result. Apparently anyway, time will tell. You just apply it like furniture polish, spray on, leave for a few seconds, rub it in fast, then buff it. I went over all my lights twice with the stuff, and it does appear to have made a difference."

Hope all that helps, and I'm sorry if I have posted the above before on a separate thread. Also, as mentioned, the above is just an example of how it worked out for me, I am not implying it will work for everyone else and you could probably get the same results using a different method.

Thanks S555MRJ.

Good instruction and a good result. Just what I needed to know to cure the Corolla's cataracts.

Sparkling graphite:

Mate sorry i didnt see this reply till now. The TTE springs are good, they just lower the car and the ride quality stays the same in my opinion.

Got the tracking and geomoetry checked and corrected including camber adjustment to around 1.5 degrees.

Sionce getting this done, the car has become much more responsivbe in terms or steering and braking. I would recommend everyone do this atleast once on their car. The place I went to was Wheels In Motion in Chesham, great bunch of people down there and all very helpful. So much so that one of the main guys there talked me through everything he did in the process while he did it, I couldnt have asked for more. I went there on recommendation of another forum member.

A lowered E12 always looks great. Congrats and hope you enjoy the coilovers.

Have you changed back to the OEM Tsport rims?

Cheers mate. Yeah I switched back to the original wheels as ive managed to kerb all 4 of the other wheels lol. Plus the woriginals have been wrapped in 45 profile tyres meaning the car sits even lower with these wheels on. But I will try to eventually get the other wheels back on once refurbed :D

Good question. I have brought new meaning to the phrase '****** other drivers off' lol

every hump, I have to slow right down, and sometimes Ive got so ****** off ive just gone straight through and scraped all sorts.

I think Ive knocked my handbrake cable out of position too, which should be easily fixed.

Just gotta take extra care, its not too bad IMO. I use this car everyday for work and for coilOvers the car is surprisingly comfertable. Not as comfy as stock granted, but comfy all the same to me :D
