Hi I am new to this forum but have owned Toyotas for the last few years. I have just purchased the above. Please can you advise if I have made a good choice .?

As I have gone from a 1.3 Yaris petrol Vtti to above

Thanks Jaseowl

It's not a big a jump as from the 1.0VVTi but it's still a good upgrade :)

Performance is similar to the 1.3 but it uses a lot less fuel.

You have to look after it a bit tho'; It needs to be taken on the motorway at least now and then or it'll lose performance.

Why'd you change out of curiosity?

Wanted a new car and have always liked the Yaris SR Diesel and was advised at the local dealer it was a good car to drive. Thanks for the info

Well it's a good car; IMHO the 1.4 D4D is the best small diesel engine in the industry; Everyone else needs 1.6 to do what Toyota have done in 1.4 and it still revs higher and has strong but smooth torque curve while maintaining great fuel efficiency. It drives more like a high-torque petrol engine than a diesel! Amazing considering the Japanese normally hate diesel!

It really is a shame Toyota have stopped developing them (Mostly because they're focussing on HSD tech, but I also suspect because emissions controls are getting so tight). The next Toyota diesels will be cross-licensed BMW tech (Viva la turbo failure!)
