Is An An Avensis Diesel A Good Buy?

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and going for a 2012 Avensis diesel with just 3k from a main T dealer. My last diesel was a Mazda 323 (not common rail which was trouble free to 100k). My worry, apart from the DFP issue, is the risk of a dual mass flywheel clutch failure and//or clutch replacement at c50k miles. Can anyone advise?

Cheers

New Toyotas should have a 5 year warranty and I'd like to think it would include catastrophic clutch failure. Wait and see what anyone else says tho.

I would expect you to get longer than that from a DMF or clutch.

For info. I have just purchased a t4 12 plate 2.0 with 5.5k miles on the clock as an ex demo. I paid 16k for it, other dealers had similar cars and wanted around 19. No idea if I paid a good price but seemed ok to me, hope that helps in you negotiation. My second avensis estate after my t180, doesn't pull as well but doesn't drink the juice as much. Overall I am really happy with it.
