Iq3 Tyres

I've just put a new pair of new tyres on , Nexen n'blue eco 175-60-16 £115 fitted, inc vat, for the pair. much better than the £90 for a single Bridgestone that i paid last time.

I've just come down the A14 and M6 and there's no noticable difference from the Bridgestones , noise , handling etc.I know it's not slinging it down in rain , so performance in the wet is yet to be seen , but it does seem an attractive alternative.

Was this thread just to let people know Bridgestone's are overrated or...?

If it was, I agree that the Bridgestone's that come as standard on IQ's are overrated tyres. I've now got new wheels now but felt they lacked grip in the wet and even in the dry, they certainly weren't worth the crazy price tag. I've got Mazzini Eco tyres on my new wheels and yes they are more budget than high performance tyres, they are VERY impressive. Being a C rating in both fuel performance and wet grip, they seem the best in their size.

Tyres will always be a subject that people will agree and disagree on but all really depends on what you expect from a tyre. An IQ isn't a fast car so personally I don't see why putting Continental's on a car like this would benefit someone. That being said, if your putting aftermarket wheels on and coil over's, then yes maybe your better spending a bit more. They are certain budget tyres that are horrifically dangerous in all conditions from past experience but if your driving like old betty at 40mph on motorways then I suppose they'll be fine.

Nexen tyres seem to get good reviews of what I've seen so I'd be happy at your choice :)

I've just replaced all my Bridgestones with Dunlop wintersport tyres.

Don't forget the Bridgestones are an ECO tyre so they are designed for maximum life and low rolling resistance, Just what you need on an environmentally friendly car but that does usually mean grip and performance come second.

I was never that impressed with the Bridgestone tyres on my iQ. They never seemed to have the grip I would have expected but maybe I have been spoiled with previously driving heavier vehicles with much bigger wheels.

It's a shame the choice of tyres in the 16" size is so limited, I thought there was only two makes available but if Nexen now make them I guess it's three. I'm going over to 17" wheels next year so I have plenty of choice when the time comes.

Craig.

Oh, If anyone wants a barely used iQ3 Bridgestone B250 tyre I have one sitting in the garage I'll never use.
