Replacing Yaris Mk1 Seatbelt

The dog chewed through one and a half seatbelts!

I've got replacement belt units and looking at the job in hand it would seem fairly simple to change them over, however due to pre-tensioners on the belt units I'm a tad wary of making the situation worse and damaging the replacement units,
Am I correct in thinking that I need to unhook the car Battery before doing anything?

The actual belt unit and connecting brackets appear to be a simple unscrew remove and replace but on the unit there is the tensioner socket where the small plug fits in,

Is it a case of just unplugging it from the old and plugging into the new?
Is there something I'm missing?

I've heard someone mention static, What is this static?!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated,
I'd rather do the job myself than pay the garage for what appears to be an easy job!

Fortunately I have never had this problem

Static is the static electricity charge that builds up in man made materials that can cause damage if it discharges over electronic components.....This can be avoided by ensuring that everything is earthed

If you are at all unsure about doing this job yourself it might be best to get a quote from a garage

Hopefully someone on here will have a solution for your problem

I have moved your post to the Yaris section :)

Front or rear?

I assume front.

Haynes:

Remove door sill cover

Remove cover and unscrew seat lelt lower anchor point

Ditto upper

Disconnect wiring plug from inertia reel, by lifting white locking clip,.then pushing off yellow clip

Remove two bolts securing inertia reel.
