Toyota Avensis 2003

After engine replacement in 2003 Avensis petrol 1.8 automatic realized some problems with automatic transmission. 1. on D is driving fine. 2. when switched to M + -, cannt change the gears to 2, 3, D etc 3. on dashbord beforwas showing 2 3 D, etc, now is not showing 2 and 3 Confused, any idea?
