Lucida 2.2Td 1995 Import

hi hope someone can help

I recently purchased a 2.2 td lucida import

when I am driving I can hear the turbo but also like a whoosh air noise really noticable but not too much power and there is no lights on my dash ie green or orange what should come on when turbo kick s in

there is no smoke from exhaust and engine sounds fine and no overheating

anyone who can help would be great

I would check for a boost leak before anything. Even a small leak can make a lot of noise under load.
