Opinions On Waxes

I'm looking to buy a quality wax and I've sort of decided on either Autoglym HD wax or Dodo Juice Banana Crush, which is recommended for red cars. Has anyone used either product before or perhaps could recommend another brand? I'm not an expert at detailing but I'd like to protect and bring out the best in the paint!

Thanks simey, the autoglym offers more value for money as it comes with applicator pads and buff cloth. I've never used a hard wax before, only paste or liquid ones, any advice u could give me from your concourse experience? Is a pre wax cleanser necessary for hard wax?

We've just had a bodyshop repair done on our red Hyundai i20 (someone hit the car with a ladder), and the Hyundai approved/insurance approved bodyshop we used, uses Autoglym HD.

I would use Auto Glym body shampoo and do this a couple of times, then make sure the car is really dry and get the wax on a panel at a time. Do not do this in direct sum or if the panels are hot.

As for the cleanser I would try 1 panel and see what the results where like. No point in buying it if you don't need it

Collinite 476S FTW. It will last very long and is easy to apply hard wax. Autoglym is well known but quality isn't so good, it's more of a supermarket stuff.

Welcome to the forum, try a glaze first before the wax as it gives a deeper / wetter look, something like prima amigo or poorboys blackhole then apply Autoglym hd wax or something like soft99 authentic wax over the top, when your washing the car get a decent shamppo like Meguiars ultimate wash or autosmart duet,if you want to get some ideas get over to www.detailingworld.co.uk and take a look at the waxes and glaze section or showroom section for ideas.
