Rav4 D4D Enging Knock/clatter When Lifting Accelerator Pedal

Hi All,

I have a 2007 Rav4 D4D and my problem is when I lift the accelorator pedal a clatter sound comes from what I think is the engine and disappears again as soon as I hit the accelorator pedal. It also sometimes appears when cruising, when I accelerate it dissappears and comes back when I lift the pedal at my desired speed.

THANKS IN ADVANCE ANY HELP APPRECIATED!

Have you checked the pedal is not damaged. eg spring etc?

Does it occur when you vary the revs with the RAV stationary?

Are you absolutely sure it is coming from the engine. I am suffering with something similar but is seems to be midships to rear and is a pronounced banging.

John - mine is deffinatley a clatter/knock not a banging sound
