2004 Avensis Stereo Upgrade

Hey Everybody!

I'm looking to replace the standard CD and tape unit in my Avensis Estate for a Pure H260DBi but I've never installed a DAB radio before, and it seems it requires a separate SMB (?) aerial for the DAB and the radio supplies 12V amplification for the aerial.

I know that the Avensis has aerial amplification but I don't know what voltage, or even if I could use the existing aerial - people talk of buying separate ones, but some people talk about splitters? If I could use the existing one it would be no problem to wire in a buck converter or similar to adjust the voltage. My service manual appears to show two connections, but it's not very clear, is it possible that it already has a splitter in the back?

I haven't bought the radio yet and haven't taken apart the existing one to see what aerial connections are in the back, and of course I'd have to get a new fascia for the car as the tape bit would be missing, but I've found one on eBay so that's not a problem.

I was just wondering if any of you clever people have already done a swap like this and could tell me how straightforward it might be! Like I say, I've done regular analogue radio swaps in other cars before, but this is my first DAB!

I've attached some info which may be of help, I couldn't get links to paste in.

Thanks in Advance

Martin
