Auto Site Load From Toc Forum

I seem to have problems when viewing the forums from the TOC website.

On multiple occasions today it automatically jumps to another website without me clicking on anything. At one point it had done this while I was away and left the TOC website open. When I came back it had loaded the other site.

It always goes here: http://www.ecuflash.co/?utm_source=AutoClubs-Int

Is there some script on the TOC site that does this? It is highly annoying. I understand TOC is partly funded by advertising and have no problem with this. But I think it should require a click on an ad in order to jump there - not through automagic.

Or is this just me?

Haven't experienced this issue, and have been on the site several times today.

Sounds like a Browser hijacking which is the modification of a web browser's settings.

The term "hijacking" is used as the changes are performed without the user's permission.

A browser hijacker may replace the existing home page, error page, or search page with its own.

These are generally used to force hits to a particular website, increasing its advertising revenue.

Some browser hijacking can be easily reversed, while other instances may be difficult to reverse. Various software packages exist to prevent such modification.

The homepages that are set by hijackers are often search pages, and many of these programs are spyware programs that track personal data.

Most installers will give users the opportunity to accept or decline an offer to install a hijacker; however, the request to decline the offer is often ignored or presented in a very confusing manner.

This is done for the sole reason of tricking users into installing excessive bloatware and malware.

strange... nothing set here will make anything load in the background. Not the sort of things we would do

If you keep getting it then please message me and I will look in to it.

I think I've found the culprit. Some remnant from a toolbar that the kids have inadvertently installed at some point. Now removed. Hopefully that was it.

Thanks for your help. Good to hear TOC has a sensible ad policy.
