Suggestions For A 7 Seater?

My dad's after a 7-seater to replace the Deathly Focus of Vague Steering, but:

Doesn't want to pay more than £200 road tax
Would prefer an auto
Doesn't want to pay more than, say, £7000
Doesn't want too high mileage (Maybe 70k tops? Was a bit vague on that)

He's looking at Zafiras and Galaxys and the like but I want him to get a car that won't need to go to the garage every other week...

I was looking at (Corolla) Versos but all the auto ones are MMT and it'd have to be a diesel to beat the tax, and also I don't know how to tell if the engine's been replaced with the non-oil-eating one.

Any other suggestions?

In the end he bought the manual Corolla Verso I was originally looking at!

Had a look at the VIN to see what engine it had (Thank you toyodiy.com!) and it turns out these Corolla Versos have the CD-series engines, not the AD, so that neatly side-steps the engine replacement issue :D

Aside from the timing belt, the sense I get from here is that it is a better and more reliable engine than the AD-series so it's all good! :)

He's getting it on Sunday so I'll see if I can have a play...

If it's anything like my brother's 2.0D4D Corolla should be fun to drive :D
