Two Tone Iq Spotted

I saw this car coming up behind me (this was last week I think) on my way from Marton (on the B4386) as I got closer to the A5 ring road around Shrewsbury, approaching the roundabout heading for the Hospital (Mytton Oak Road). I turned right at this roundabout and it continued toward the hospital. Now, you're wondering, maybe, why I'm bothering to mention this? Yes?/No?

The car in question was a 2013 reg; the lower part was Silver, and the upper was Amethyst/Purple. From just above the door handle to the bottom of the car was all Silver, above it including the bonnet was Amethyst. Aside from promotional models I have not seen a two-tone colour scheme on an iQ. This one had no advertising, and I guess the driver was not an enthusiast as when I signalled him, thinking he was someone who looked like he loved his iQ, he ignored me, fine, be like that.

Anyone else spotted an unusual colour combo? See some pics below, including the Scion Electric iQ.

Toyota did offer IQ in two tone lower Silver, Upper Amethyst. Like this Scion version.

I do quite like this colour combination. Frosty, I saw that one too, and I wasn't aware that Toyota did a two-tone iQ. Very surprised at Mr. T for being so ingenious.

I'm in the USA, My IQ looks just the photo - it is the "Monogram Series" IQ. Loved the colors when I saw the IQ in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mine has a rear spoiler that came with the car and upgraded wheels plus fog lights. They supposedly made just 150 of these two-tone Monogram series IQ's. Really enjoy the little car!

I want to like it, but I'm just not keen. The previous generation Lancia Ypsilon (not sold in the UK) had some great colour schemes, and the Citroën 2CV Charleston / Dolly models are classics that also use the same trick.

The iQ might look better with a cream lower half matched to that purple upper half :)

I have seen a Silver/Amethist one near me. Not too keen, looks ok from the side but from the back it looks like someone has bought a second hand tailgate to replace a damaged one. Should be half sprayed Silver to match the rest of the lower bodywork.

In those famous dulcet tones of Brucie Bonus, Lower, lower! Not seen one from the back, but I get what you mean. It's not a good look if it only looks half painted from the back..

Here is my Monogram IQ, it looks better in person than in photo. The dealer here had this one and a 10th anniversary IQ that was all silver. I sure liked this one the best! I do have to admit I really like the red and black two-tone IQ shown above by Bob but they don't sell them like that in the US. They just have the "Current" and "silver" two tone.

A 'Spotting' medal should be handed to you Richard. That looks, almost, stunning. Only 'Almost' because I'm not so sure about the reflectiveness of that wrap. But the car looks great. I love that interior too. Must-ave-a-look.

Having seen a number of these for sale now on T'Internet, I have come to a conclusion, for me. I don't really like them. Mostly this is because the colour banding is not equal, or in the case of the Amethyst and Silver, not enough Amethyst. If the colour had gone down the door about another 5 or more inches then perhaps it would have made all the difference. Yes, it stands out as no one (in the UK anyway) expects to see a two tone Toyota. It used to be one of Mr. T's selling points.
