My celica 03 gen7 vvti started making a noise today what I can only describe as tappets but deeper.can any one shed some light on this issue and weather or not I sholud drive my car? Many thanks rob

Probably the auxiliary belt. There's a Youtube video where someone has posted the sound his Gen 7 was making pre and post fitting the belt. It may be the same sound?

Thanks for the info I have had it towed back to a local garage as it died on me yesterday morning.lost all power noise got louder and constant so pulled over and rang for help.they are going to diagnose it then I will take it from there hopefully not too much to fix.once again thank you for the info 😃
