Whining Sound When Turning Steering Wheel

Hi.

Yaris Verso 1.4D 2004, approx 123000 km.

When I turn the steering wheel in a certain degree, it makes a high pitched whining sound. Usually when I start to drive, park or when I'm in a large turn with low/medium speed (3rd gear). I don't notice it at high speed, but I guess thats because I don't really turn the wheel to that degree when driving fast.

Anyone know what might be causing this? I've checked the steering wheel fluid and it appears to be on Max.

Say the steering wheel is in normal position, it starts to make a whining sound when I hit about 2 o'clock doing a right turn.

The power steering pump may be worn or the drive belt worn, or the belt slipping.
