Whistling Sound At 4000Rpm

Hi there guys I'm new to the forum!!

I have a 53 plate rolla 1.4 petrol vvti.

At around 4000rpm while accelerating I hear a whistling sound that increases as I speed up!

I have no idea what it could be and any help is appreciated!

I haven't noticed and drop in power or control but I just want to make sure it's not going to lead to a costly problem!!

I see this post is 9 years old, but I just got the same car, 2006 corolla 1.4 vvti, also making a whistle sound at cca 4000, and goes to higher frequency with rpm. Almost sounds like turbo engaging. Is that normal or what? Guess You found out in past 9 years 😉😉
