2013 Rav 2.2 Towcar Test

I have just completed a 1810 mile trip to the Vosges region of France with the caravan attached to the Rav for probably 1500 of those miles travelling at where possible the maximum legal speeds.

Its the first real test as a tow car and I have to say I am impressed. Whilst the van isn't particularly heavy (1200kg GVW) the fuel consumption averaged out at 28 mpg towing, as good or better than a similar trip in my last 2010 Avensis 2.0

On trips up into the hills of the Vosges it averaged close to 40mpg,

Stability was spot on even during a massive thunderstorm with a significant cross wind

I was surprised how many French registered Rav's in general were about - appears more popular than in the UK or perhaps I am imagining it

For the first six months of 2014 (January - June) the Rav 4 was Toyota's third best selling car in Europe at 51,500 sales. The Yaris is number 1 at 97,400 and the Auris/Auris Touring Sports number 2 at 73,700.
