Hi all for those who own a yaris hybrid 2014

Hope someone can shed some light lol

Basically i love my car but till other day i got a light issue.

Bought the car in may.

I switch on the engine and by default the panel lights illuminate and the rear lights came on.

But only few days ago a while i was driving in the dark home from work a car was flashing me at the rear telling me i got no lights on.

My front lights were on and when i checked my back lights weren't on.

So now i dnt know what ive done as to why my back lights are not on all the time now when i start my car up.

Or wasnt the rear lights not meant to be on when i start my car.

Ive took few pics to show u wat i mean.

But cnt load them here.

Hope someone can help.

Matt

What you have is correct. If you have not switched your lights on using the steering column stalk only the front "daylight running lights" are lit when the ignition is switched on. I don't like it much either and but that's how it's meant to operate.

Legally daytime running lights are only required to be installed at the front of vehicles. They aren't a substitute for headlights/sidelights.

Cowdenite is correct thats the way the lights are designed to operate.

Most cars with Day time Running lights only light up the front lights and not the rear lights. If you want tail lights on you have to switch them on yourself.

If you thought your rear lights came on automatically when ignition turned on you could have seen the rear tail lights illuminated, as the car will not start without the brake peddle; being pressed.

Also the DLRs will not turn on with out the handbrake lever being released.

It's one of my pet hates..........German car drivers in bad weather with blinding DRL lights, only to go past you and you cannot see the back of their car because the tail lamps are not on with the DRL's You need to switch on side or head lamps to get the tail lamps on

Hi I have a Yaris hybrid. No your rear lights do not come on when you start the engine.I think you will find that the front lights that are on are the daytime running lights these are always on.You have to turn your rear lights and headlights on with the controls on the steering wheel.Hope this helps.
