Dead Engine On First Day Of Ownership :(

Hi There,

Bought a 2001 1.8 Celica a week or so back. Ran like a dream at the office. Ran like a dream on the drive home. Then, my mates and I went for a drive and I overtook a horse box with some gusto.

It would appear that something catastrophic happened (oil pump died, hose came off, I don't know), because within 5 miles of that the crankshaft was knocking like a newlyweds bedpost..

Could any of you fine people recommend anyone who'd be able to sort this out at a reasonable price, please? I know it's not going to be cheap because I'm most likely going to need a new lump (sounds like the big ends have eaten themselves). I can source a new engine at a fair price, the question mark is over who is the best mechanic who will charge a reasonable rate.

Any help much appreciated.

Kind regards,

TIm.

Take the car back to them under the sale of goods act and get your cash back...

Yeah, can't unfortunately.. I rolled the dice on this one and bought a car which had a clause I missed in the contract that stated 'for spares or repairs'. Only £700, so with another grands worth of engine it's still not too bad a deal because the rest of the car is in top nick.
