Hi all

Is it possible to find out the origin of an engine based on the engine number? I’m interested in when it was built, which car it came from, or if it is a replacement engine from Toyota.

The engine number is: 2AZ B111801

The reason for my question is that I am going to buy a 2004 Toyota Previa 2.4, and the current owner states that the engine is 4-5 years old. I have talked to Toyota here in Norway, but they have no information about this particular engine.

Hello Harald - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

It is the AZ series engine - see the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AZ_engine

Built in Japan and the US (for the US market), so I would say yours was built in Japan.
