Rear Wash Wipe Motor

Hi,

Does anyone know where the rear wash wiper motor is in IQ.

Mine has stopped working. (Along with the air conditioning-unconnected presumably).

Disappointing even though it's over five years old and out of warranty of course.

Inside the car take a look at the left hand side of the left hand foot well.

There should be a removal panel in the trim in front of the passenger seat kind of at the front of the door.

If you pop off that cover and look upwards you might find a fuse box with a removable cover.

Pop that cover off and take a look for a 10 amp fuse which is fuse number 3.

Ok David,

That was fun! I didn't know that was there.

Why? Why? Why? put a fuse box in an inaccessible like that.

The fuse was ok.

So, what next?

Regards,

Mike.

Compared to the fuse box on an American xB, the iQ is simplicity indeed. I could not contort myself enough to look into the xB fuse box, much less change them.

No one has suggested where I can find the wash motor.

Does anyone know how to get to it please?

The washer pump is built in to the bottle which is located behind the front bumper (needs removal) on the right hand side. Some pictures to help.

You can see the white plastic bottle underneath the headlight.

Locations for all the other related bits and bobs.

And the interior controlling bits in case it is something more than loose wire or blocked tube.

So are there two washer motors, one for the front and one for the rear?

Two pumps mounted on the bottle.

Right. I removed front bumper to get to the water bottle and discovered that the reason the rear wash wipe wasn't working because when the Toyota dealer investigated the failed air con they must have removed the RR washer fuse and placed it back in the spare fuse slot.

I had checked the fuses but never thought they would be in the wrong place!

The rear wash is now working.

I took the car to a local electrical specialist garage regarding the air con and they have diagnosed ,within 10 minutes, a failed compressor. The Toyota dealer were telling me it was an electrical fault and I might need a new wiring loom.

So I am now looking for a used part because the quoted price just for a new compressor is £545. That's not fitted the fitted price.

Sorry that should read, "That's not for the fitted price" i.e. that's just the price for the part.

Well good new kind of, at least you have solved one problem & know the proper reason for the aircon not working. How much did Toyota quote you for a new loom to be fitted?

Oh well they just said they would keep working at it until the problem was sussed.

I think they said £60/hour.

I used to have confidence in Toyota.

I suppose Main Dealers are just like Back Street garages. You get good one and you get bad ones?

Depressing isn't it.

Thanks for your input though. It was very helpful.

I quite enjoyed taking off the, front fender could you call it?

Apparently they talk about fenders and hoods at the Nissan factory.

My neighbour works there.

It's the multi-national nature of Nissan.

I seem to remember asking you to listen for the compressor noise of it it switching on and off and you said you couldn't hear it. Although other components can give the same effect, it adds credence to your observations

I still call it the front bumper :)
