Fuel In Injector Power Supply And Pulsating Engine

Hi All,

Should there be any fuel in sockets that fit onto injectors to supply power pulses. I think my injectors are leaking internally. Could this also be because my fuel pressure is too high??????? i need expert opinion on this as this is causing me a lot of bother. The other day the fuse for EFI (fuel supply/fuel pump) went. Dont know whether that was just coincidence or something is screwed up some where. I have done around 3/400 miles since then with no fuse blowing.

Secondly, there is no variation in rpm on idle but after a long trip there is a very clear shudder from the engine as if it is going to shut down but doesnt.Become very lumpy and just pulsates for quite a bit. I cant put my finger on it and i dont want to kill this car. Help!!!!

Regards,

Waqar

Waqar, when your fuse blew, the fuel settings went back to factory. Pull the EFI fuse again to reset again, then drive at different load and engine speeds to help the car relearn. Hopefully it may improve the running. Also recheck the vacuum pipes.

If the injectors are leaking, then it is the seals. Didn't you replace the seals recently? It might need replacement injectors.

Make sure you have not had bad fuel or blocked air filter. EML?

You have the data logging device. That may find something.

i am thinking injectors as well but I just want to make sure that other people with normal cars havent got fuel in electric supply points on the the injectors.

I am 99% sure that my injectors are now a bit screwed up. Regardless of anything else, there shouldnt be fuel in my electric supply for injectors. In fact this might have actually shorted the efi fuse as if enough fuel is pooled in there then, its gonna pop. BUT i have been checking on sites like eBay and my injectors are dirt cheap. I ll find some and put them on to see what happens. My injectors definitely have cracked insulating body. God knows how that happened. These must have been fiddled with at some point as these dont just crack.

My second guess is towards a very high pressure coming in from my fuel pump which is causing my injectors to kind of pool up and flood themselves internally. I would really appreciate any advice on this.

Can somebody also confirm if my fuel pressure rail has a pressure regulation integrated in to it. I saw some pics last night where i spotted something that looked like one. I would really appreciate anyone giving me their input on this. As when replacing injectors i might also replace the rail. NOT SURE ABOUT THIS THOUGH.

I will be changing the fuel filter as well as my air filter soon which should help regardless of anything else.

Waqar, I also think the cracked injectors are the cause of most of your issues. When you get the replacement injectors, make sure they are in good condition. Then take the new seals from your broken injectors just in case.

I know you will check with the seller that the injectors are suitable for your car, and it would be ideal that they not too far from you.

Let's hope this sorts out this minor episode.

We looked at this issue as well and found that from driver side if i disconnect injector one, the ticking noise is reduced quite a bit, but if i put that on and disconnect number 2, it completely disappears.

I have paid a breaker for four injectors, lets wait and see now.
