It twitters when on full lock but I expect that because you should very really use full lock but on odd occasions it has started juddering when the steering wheel is turned (even when not on full lock).

Is this a sign of impending doom?

PS fluid low level or the power steering pump belt is slipping when the pump is under load. Re-tension / replace the belt
