Fuel Filter

Has any body ever changed a fuel filter on a petrol 4.2 rav, 2004. I see japarts list one so I assume there is one and most probably in the fuel tank, have fitted one in the past in my old yaris which was inside the fuel tank but unsure on the rav where it is, any advice appreciated. Thought next time I give it a service will chance it.

Exactly as per the Yaris - the filter is mounted on the pump in the fuel tank. It's a screen rather than a filter and minimises the passage of debris into the pump. Unlike a filter - a screen is merely a single sheet perforated material. It retains debris whilst fuel is flowing but when the pump stops, most of the debris falls off the screen. Obviously needs changing if damaged - otherwise no real value in routine replacement.
