Quick Win Stereo Upgrade?

Hi all. We've recently bought a new Fiesta that has made the dynamic failing of my Auris stand out like a sore thumb, in fact by comparison it's a horrible thing to drive.

SWMBO has declared I MUST keep my Auris for another year before I

can get rid. (A battle I won't win)

One area I want to upgrade are the Speakers. If I replace the door

Speakers with a superior type will the sound quality improve or will I have to

change the head unit also?

Thanks in advance.

You should look for some sound deadening. As the Auris is noisy this will make your sound better. Look for Silent coat or any other you find. You can change the Speakers and the unit but the rattling will continue. Just deadening the doors will make a lot of improvement. I know it will no be cheap but you will get th results you will need. Otherwise will be money spend on nothing.

Hi Gareth

It depends how bad the Speakers are. Teodor is correct about the sound deadening in the doors. Your car is low geared so the engine noise as well as tyre roar has to be overcome, especially at motorway speeds.

It you change the Speakers you may need to mount the replacements on the correct thickness baffles. This promotes better bass and dampens vibrations.

If you look for speaker efficiency (high 92+ db), the original head unit should be okay. Also 2 ohms which are easier to drive. I use JBL 6.5" (165cm) Speakers, with the original Sony that came with my Avensis. Plenty of sound.

Loved the She who needs to be obeyed. :nono:

I would love to know more about the dynamic failing bit. Please let me know.

Konrad

Hi both. Thanks for your replies!

I'll look into it more, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll report back when I've upgraded.

Gareth.

Hi, I can definitely recommend upgrading the Speakers in the doors. I did, along with new head unit, and sound quality improved no end.

I have pics on here somewhere, lol, of my installation process....
