Celica St202 Fuel Light Not Working

hi I have just bought a celica st202 last week all is well just one thing that is bugging me the fuel light is not working now I have checked the bulb its fine I swapped it with a new one incase but still no joy, I haven't ran it in the red but surely it should come on to the ignition? the gauge is working fine, any ideas anyone
