Colorado Diff Lock

Hoping someone can help with this little mystery!

If I'm in 4 wheel drive 'LL' and try to use the Diff Lock switch the red Diff Lock light flashes and the orange ABS comes on! Am thinking the Diff Lock is not working? Seem to remember, if things are working correctly, that the red Diff Lock light comes on (i.e. doesn't flash).

Any suggestions as to what lights should do what and when, how to test the Diff Lock is working (or not!), probable fault(s) and how to sort?
