Spark Plugs Causing Mass Petrol Loss?

Hi there lads. Was giving my car a survise today as it has been sitting around for over a year, petrol was not too bad going until today I changed the spark plugs, I got a friend to install then before I headed to Sligo from Cavan. Anyway on my way home the petrol meter was just on the line of empty and it was 3/4 filled before I left, is there anything that can help my mass petrol loss?

Seriously though, there's nothing that a spark plug change could do to affect fuel usage like that, unless you forgot to attach all the leads and are compensating for the resulting lack of power with a wider throttle opening...
