Hunting Rpm

Have developed a problem with my 2000 1.4 vvti corolla.

Its a standard config, and recently found the rpm to idle at 700 rpm and then drops to 400rpm nearly stalls the engine, but then the engine picks up to 700rpm idles and then drops again. It stalls as I set off from traffic lights.

I have cleaned the Mass air flow sensor and the throttle body, but no change.

Has anyone any suggestions please ?

Thanks

Mr W

Hi,

Has this started just after you disconnect the Battery ?

If so, the ECU has gone into 'learning' mode and gives such symptoms, particulary when cold.

Simply use the car and it will become normal after a few miles.
