Bulkhead Cowling Cover Rubber Detiorating Mk1 Avensis, Replaced.

Hi Guys,

I just replaced my bulkhead cowling cover, due to the rubber lining to the windscreen deteriorating. Due to my drive being south facing, the rubber has aged and broken up, leaving gaps between the cover and the windscreen.

It became unsightly so as a temporary measure, I used black insulation tape. During this time I checked the breakers yard, but most of the cars I saw had the same problem. It seem to be a common issue.

Yesterday I went to the breakers yard and there were 2 cars in. I went to a 2002 vvti car which had easier access. It cost £10.

The last 2 pictures shows the replacement cover.

The job is straightforward and I retained the clips when taking the cover from the scrapped car. The wipers came off easily on the scrap car, but I had to use a puller on my car.

I will have to clean the windscreen where the tape has left a residue.

Overall very pleased.
