Hi Everyone. My present set of wheels is a Renault Scenic (2002) 1.6 petrol engined. I tow a lightweight Lunar caravan, the outfit is very well matched and nips along nicely, however, some of the caravan sites are on grassy slopes and after heavy rains it can get a bit tricky with traction. I've decided that I need a quality 4x4 just to give me a better chance when site conditions are poor, I'm not looking to do any off road work by the way, although the country lane I live on gets a bit tricky in winter when the local council have their usual competition to see how long our village can stay housebound before they grit the road... I'm Looking to spend around £7000 to hopefully get something a bit decent, an example I've seen is a 2006 2 ltr petrol model with 48000 on the clock (towbar and electrics already fitted) but maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. During the week I only go to town about twice (around 2 miles) and about once every three weeks I make a trip to York (around 14 miles) so I'm not a high mileage user apart from caravanning now and then. For this reason I'm a bit shy of using a diesel car with the dreaded particulate suggested probs - maybe someone can put me right if I've got the wrong idea. Also I'm wondering if there are any models I would be better steering clear of, I haven't visited any dealers yet until I get some idea of what I should be looking for. Any advice or comments would be really appreciated.

Ian.
