Oil Change Warning Notification

Hi

The above notification popped up this evening whilst driving home from work. My immediate response was, oh no, this is the dreaded engine fault on the D4D 2.2. I'm hoping it isn't as i've just passed the 7 year cut off point for a replacement engine.

Now I'm wondering if it could simply be that the last time I had it serviced, which was about a year ago, they didn't reset the notification system. I had the service done at a local garage not a Toyota dealer. If not this then I'm worried as Ionly do about 6,000 -8,000 miles annually which I would guess shouldn't trigger the oil change notification...or could it? Most of my journeys are short ones to work and back although I did about 300 miles over a two week period in the summer.

I haven't noticed any other issues and get around 35 miles to the gallon on my short urban runs

I welcome any thought on this.

Thanks Mick, I'm hoping that is all it is. I'm going to check oil level in the morning and if that is still in the ok zone, do a reset. If the oil level is low, then ....panic!

The oil change warning has nothing to do with oil level. 12 months, 8000 miles of short journeys may well trigger the need for an oil change - don't just reset the service light!
