T Sport Engine Light - Oil Control Valve

Hi everyone,

basically over the last couple of days the lift on my car has been quite hesitant when in 3rd and 4th gear, it still lifted but the revs where not smooth it seemed like it kept losing power then coming back again.

Then yesterday coming down a slip road as soon as I hit 6200 revs the engine management light came on, the traction control light is stuck on and so is the stability control light.

I drove sensibly home and plugged my diagnostic machine in and it's coming up as - Oil Control Valve Malfunction. I turned the light off and just drove sensibly and it drives normal, took it to the lift and the lights came back on.

I read up on this and some people are saying that the valve can be blocked due to lack of use of the lift, but I don't think that is the case with mine as it is used Atleast a couple of times a day.

Could possibly be broken bolts but I'm not quite sure how I would check this. Has anyone got any knowledge on this or have any other suggestions before I pay 110 pounds for a new valve.

The car has got 97k on the clock and it's on an 05 but it has got full toyota service history and has been looked after by the one previous owner that has had the car from new.

Thankyou, Connor
