Central Locking + Power Steering Not Working In 06 Avensis 1.6

Went to open my car this morning with the key fob, nothing happened. Thought it was the Battery in the fob so got spare, same problem. Opened door with the key, got in and started the car, was running away normally. Front head lights were working but I had no dash lights, no power steering and the central locking wasn't working. We had terribly heavy rain here last night so thought it may be a leak but found nothing. I also checked all the fuses but they seemed OK. Not exactly mechanically orientated so any help or suggestions would be great.

Will get the Battery tested, thanks for that Exvec. Though it may have something to do with the immobilizer but will see.

I went back out to the car last night to move stuff from one car to the other and everything was back working again.

Had nothing for 5/6 hours and then back to normal, very strange.

It's booked in for service next week so will mention to them as well if it doesn't go again.

I'd look for a cable/wire somewhere not connecting properly, like maybe an earth or something.

  • 2 weeks later...

Problem in Avensis returned yesterday. Central locking not working again, Power steering (ps) light staying on in dash, abs light staying on as well obviously have no brakes or steering. I disconnected Battery etc, indicator eye on Battery is showing as black, not sure what that means as it says something different on every Battery when I Google it etc. Car starting normally but electrically we have a problem. Disaster.

Faulty 100A fuse seemed to be the problem. All sorted now, fingers crossed that's it sorted once and for all.
