Oil & Filter

I contacted a local garage (it used to be Toyota service centre but isn't anymore) to ask for a quote on an oil and filter change...nealry passed out when he said £120! Is this the norm for a D4D 2.2. engine?

Seemed steep to me, I would imagine a filter only costs about £10 and the oil £30 for a decent make. I might be wrong as it's a long time since I did my own oil changes.

I use the 5w-40 full synth in my Celica gt4 205 import and its fantastic. There are lots of different specs and grades to look at. Use code "Saveme75" on check out. The oil I bought was £11.55 delivered for a 5Ltr can. Lots of forums are saying good stuff about this oil.

The intermediate service on your car by a Toyota dealer would be £139. This includes oil and filter change plus a number of checks. Services are often offered as a deal price whereas picking out elements from the schedule can work out expensive. Oil is often charged out at up to twice what you could buy the oil elsewhere and half an hour's labour could be £45 at the main dealer. Even so £120 is over the top.

If you don't fancy doing the job yourself - there are plenty of rapid fit outlets that will change oil and filter, using decent parts, for around £60.
