Cleaning The Evaporateur And The Climatisation System

Hello,

Could you please suggest me an efficient way for the cleaning of the climatisation evaporator on an E12 Corolla?

I tried many different products on my climatisation, but there is still a bad smelling air coming out,
when I start the climatisation. I think that this come from the evaporator which may be infected and dirty.

I saw that it is suggested to make a hole under the glover box to the evaporator's compartiment and to use there a cleaning product.

I thought to introduce that product through the drain nozzle with the flexible pipe of the cleaning product, but I'm not sure if like that I reach in fact the evaporator?

All your ideas are welcome to reach and clean the evaporator.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

There should be an existing hole under the evaportator section with a small rubber hose coming out the passenger side and going out of the car under the carpet, check its there and clear.

If you have used the air con for 10 mins or more then park and switch off the car, a few minutes later you normally find a small puddle under the car where the ice has melted out, meaning the hose is clear.

If ok then use one of the cans of air con cleaner spray, just follow the instructions, easy enough, its simply placed on the floor.

You have to use them say once a year or more often if needed.

several brands on the market - here's one

Also make sure your pollen filter is not blocked .

Hello,

The pollen filter is OK, it was changed recently.

Sometimes I have a small paddle under the car after using the climatisation, but not every time...

Do you have some photos or a sketch were the existing hole should be under the evaporator section?

The small rubber hose coming out the passenger side and going out of the car under the carpet isn't in fact the drain nozzle?

How it should be cleaned? For example a foam based cleaning solution could be convenient to be introduced there with the flexible pipe of the cleaning product?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

If you get water under the car then the pipe is not blocked.

You typically get water under a parked car if you had the air con working when you parked it.

If you switched the air con off a few minutes before you parked it may have drained / evaportated as you drive.

The book suggests switching it off that bit early to avoid any pools of water.

Would avoid putting anything into the drain hose; that why they make those air con cleaner sprays.

Use them myself , though just once a year here in the uk

Hello,

My problem is that almost every time when I start de air conditioning, the air coming out smells quiet bad...

I already used that kind of product that you have suggested to me (and many others), but I still have this issue...

This is the reason why I think that I have to get directly to the evaporator perhaps with a foam based air conditioning cleaner.

But how to do it?

Hi,

Seems there are lots of ytubes showing how to use a foam cleaner via the drain hose, a good example here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi22mdXj3wM

As you can see from the attachment the aircon /heater is a complex and difficult unit to work on, so would use one or more goes of the foam before even considering anything else.

Don't know what country you are in, but do not see many Car foam cleaner here, expect the standard building air con unit cleaners is the same stuff.

Would remove the pollen filter before using ..

Thank you, but I cannot save or download the attached file... Could you please reupload it or send me by e-mail?

Regards.

Edit: OK, thanks, I get it finally.

I will try to use one foam based cleaner through the drain nose like suggested also on ytube videos.
